Friday’s Thought: Life – Mel’s Kitchen Cafe

Summer, summer, summer!

We had a family holiday during spring break, so in fact, the kids prepared this summer’s work schedule, not vacation schedule. 🙃

Family pictures of the resort.

My teenage boys (16 and 17) both work full-time at different landscaping companies. One is in his work and study and small engine repair shop, the other is doing a lot of mowing grass, weed whipping, building fixed walls, etc.

My youngest daughter (13) lives her best life, spends a week in grandma’s house, then goes home to make money and sell cookie dough, makes money for the tennis court racket she really wants, works hard to make her first quilt (we found a very simple design on Etsy), and plays a lot of tennis. Her brother reminded her every day that thirteen is a very good age. 😉

Brian and the boys are heading to Alaska We are here, I’m not angry about it. The garden needs care, the kids are bottled, feeding a cow born from a cow on our property – so it’s a daily investment in time.

Mission/Graduation Update

My third son, Cade, graduated from high school last month and also received his missionary call (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), Tongan talks about Wellington, New Zealand. I think we were all a little shocked! My father had a church mission in Tonga in the 1970s and never thought that his descendants could speak the same language. It’s very exciting (and a lot of work can help with visa paperwork, collecting clothes and supplies).

My son has been in the Philippines (Manila Mission) for nearly a year. He thrives in very distant living conditions and we love talking to him on Sunday afternoons (his preparation day is Monday, but because he is in our far ahead of time, we talk to him on Sunday).

Side note: Put down my hand, all my boys favorite bonds are these relationships (originally presented to us by my sister son Mary, who have always been my preferred connection in the package and prepare for their mission).

Favorite thing

  • These are my favorite jumpsuits in the summer: Loose, flowing, too comfortable
  • The cutest clothes: The blue is amazing! It’s spacious (I’m usually medium sized, I’m very small)
  • Comfortable crop denim jacket: This might be a better item for cooler weather, but I love this jacket! It is stretchy and it is indeed soft and comfortable. I have it in light blue colors. The crops are not serious – I think the length is perfect for the dress.
  • Fun bracelets: I’m not a huge jewelry wearer, but I’m influenced by Instagram to get this bracelet and I can prove that thousands of comments don’t lie. Great, I always appreciate it. Sometimes, when I actually dress up, I pair it with it. 😉
  • Really great sandals: These shoes are a bit splurge, but they live up to the hype (my natural color) – they can also be found on the Born website. I wore them everywhere, from sightseeing in a hill to churches to tennis games for kids. They are crazyly comfortable, dressed or come down cute!
  • Hands-free mop and bucket: OK, a little far from the Fun Light Fashion Recs above, but this mop bucket has saved me over the past few months. I struggled with hand/wrist pain for several months and hand twisting my other mop was killing my fingers and hands. This mop has always been a lifeguard to me! Even though my hand pain started to improve, I was still using it.

Quickly pay attention to work and blogging

I know my website may look the same on the surface, but there are a lot of things behind the scenes. Most people are a little too technical/boring to share here.

However, if you notice that the posts, recipes, or formats look a little weird for the next period of time, I really appreciate your patience. I’m working fanatically to get everything in the shape of the tip.

To keep evolving, my pursuit of family and work life and the whole life in between, I feel an exciting but overwhelming moment for food blogging. I have a range of ways to improve my website, so it is still a lasting resource for tried and tested recipes. My mission made it the same thing when I started this blog journey about 18 years ago: Give you the best recipes of my life and be true to who I am in the process.

Because my website and business grow in a way I never thought I would have It seems like in the near future I will hire someone to help me with some work-related tasks so I can continue to focus on what I like best: creating content, taking pictures of food, and posting and writing these recipes. I’m so excited about the future and all the recipes and content I have to share with you. 💗

1st anniversary

My amazing release event for recipes was almost a year ago!

I’m still at a loss When I think of the hundreds of people that appeared that night (you can see a snapshot video of an event here), and I bought thousands of recipes last year. Your information on how to use and love recipes is a treasure, and I read every one of them.

Thanks for all your support; it means a lot to me.

Speaking of recipes, I just booked these two recipes and I’m so glad to get them on them!

Here is the package for this Friday’s idea post! It’s longer than I expected, but I’ve always been a speaker, what can I say. 😉

Friends, friends, friends.
